Conventional systems for the protection of steel are usually made of hard coatings, based on polymerization or thermo-plastic products which may become brittle. STOPAQ is also a thermoplastic polymer, but does not break, tear or crack ever. The substrate acts as though it is being protected by being fully immersed within a protective liquid, which prevents the migration of water and oxygen, stopping corrosion. STOPAQ CZH offers a completely tight monolithic layer around a pipeline. The corrosion prevention layer stays liquid-like forever. No internal stress is generated and the layer withstands all internal and external forces due to its chemical, mechanical, physical and thermal stability.

A Clever Coating System

STOPAQ EUROPE B.V. separates the two functions when protecting pipelines. Namely, the function of Corrosion Prevention and Mechanical Protection. Depending on the soil conditions, STOPAQ Corrosion Prevention Systems can be overcoated by various systems like tapes, sleeves, polyester, geotextile etc. In case of small damages, the STOPAQ layer will repair itself automatically. STOPAQ CZH systems do not show any cathodic disbondment.
